Firefly Lane season 2, the much-awaited sequel to the hit TV series, will premiere on Netflix on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 3 a.m. ET/midnight Pacific Time. The new season has been split into two halves, with the second coming out in 2023. Based on Kristin Hannah’s 2008 book of the same name, Firefly Lane chronicles the lives of close friends Tully Hart and Kate Mularkey from their teenage years in the 1970s until their adulthood in the early 2000s. Maggie Friedman created the show starring Katherine Hekeigl and Sarah Chatherine Heigl and Sarah Chatherine. Season 2 of Netflix’s Firefly Lane will follow Tully and Kate’s relationship as it goes through its ups and downs.
Tully and Kate’s relationship will be put to the ultimate test in Season 2 of Netflix’s Firefly Lane.
With Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke reprising their roles as Tully and Kate, the official description for Firefly Lane season 2, as posted on Netflix’s YouTube channel, reads:
“What could have ended Tully and Kate’s thirty-year friendship, our ‘Firefly Lane Girls Forever’? We’ll find out this season, but first, Kate has to deal with the emotional impact of Johnny’s bad tour to Iraq, while Tully faces a lawsuit after leaving her talk show and having to start her career from scratch.
It continues:
This drives her to seek answers about who she is and where she comes from, including a quest to uncover the father she’s never met, against the wishes of her enigmatic hippy mother, Cloud. We saw Kate and Johnny fall in love for the first time in the 1980s, which caused quite a bit of drama in the newsroom where they worked, as Tully’s career advanced and she sparred (and flirted!) with rude sports announcer Danny Diaz… As the girls move into separate high schools, they realize that the only thing they really need is each other.”
According to Netflix, season 2 of Firefly Lane will also feature “best friends for life facing the ultimate test of their friendships and how to maintain other relationships in their lives.” The teaser also depicts Johnny recovering from injuries during his military service in Iraq, as well as suffering from something like PTSD. The first season of Firefly Lane season 2 will premiere exclusively on Netflix on Friday, December 2, 2022 and will be produced by Stephanie Germain Productions and Curly Girly Productions.
