Scott Nichols posted on Facebook,

“I’ve been struggling with my thoughts and feelings since I heard yesterday about the senseless and tragic passing Danny Ott Jr. I’ve known Danny since his birth and his mom and dad for many years before that. Dan Jr gave me this tiny Redskins mug, oh, I’d have to guess, when he was about 3 years old.“He knew I was a big Redskins fan and one day he came to me, looked up at me with those brilliant blue eyes and handed it to me because, he said, “Bubba, I thought you would like this!” I’ve kept that tiny little mug all these years, through many house moves and many of my own life changes. I have always known exactly where it’s been all these years.“I’m sorry that in his adult life I didn’t know Dan Jr better. We were friendly and knew each other, just not well, certainly not like I knew his mom and dad. I’d run into him often at Shamrock Jack’s Irish Pub and we would talk about Bills football and Pea Pickers drill team. “Danny and Michelle Christine Miller Russell , my heart breaks for you both and for all of his friends and shared Pea Picker family. I’ll always remember that blue eyed kid handing me this little mug.”
