Fauquier High School principal ‘Kraig Kelican’ seriously injured in car accident in Virginia

Fauquier County, Virginia – Fauquier High School Principal, Kraig Kelican, sustained serious injuries in a four-vehicle collision that occurred on Wednesday morning on Interstate 66.

The incident unfolded at approximately 6:40 a.m. near mile marker 23 in Fauquier County, prompting a swift response from Virginia State Police. According to authorities, the collision was a result of a chain reaction involving four vehicles. Three vehicles had come to a stop due to heavy traffic when a fourth vehicle was unable to stop in time, leading to a rear-end collision, as stated in a news release.

One individual involved in the crash suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to INOVA Fairfax Hospital for treatment, as confirmed in the release. Two additional individuals sustained minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals for medical care. It was later disclosed that Principal Kraig Kelican was the individual flown to INOVA Fairfax, as verified by a Virginia State Police spokesman. The names of the other injured parties have not been disclosed.

In response to the incident, the school system issued a statement on Wednesday evening, stating, “We can confirm that Mr. Kelican was flown to the hospital for medical treatment, but we do not know the extent of his injuries. We kindly ask that you keep Mr. Kelican in your thoughts and prayers.”
