Chicago, Illinois – In a heartbreaking turn of events, the vibrant and beloved Eric Renato Donati of Chicago, Illinois, departed from this world unexpectedly on September 16, 2023, at the young age of 29. Eric’s sudden passing has left his family, friends, and loved ones devastated, grappling with the reality of his absence and the void he leaves behind.

It is with great sorrow that I post this pic of my nephew Eric he passed away suddenly yesterday. He was a wonderful person, with a huge heart. I loved him very much and he will be missed dearly.
Born on August 16, 1994, to Terrence and Amy (Miller) Donati of West Dundee, IL, Eric was not only the youngest but the cherished boy among three adoring sisters. He was the “prince” of the family, showering them with laughter, joy, and comical antics from his earliest days. Eric’s love for baseball was profound, a passion that started as a player and evolved into a lifelong devotion to the sport as a fan. His love for music was equally significant, reflecting his broad appreciation for various genres and mirroring the way he embraced people from all walks of life.
Eric’s genuine, kind-hearted nature made him easily approachable and a beloved friend to many. He had a remarkable ability to connect with others, valuing differences while finding common ground. His easy spirit and authentic kindness drew people to him, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him. To know Eric was to love him, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of sharing their lives with him.
He is survived by his loving parents, Amy and Terry Donati; his cherished sisters and brothers-in-law, Carrie (Marvin), Laura, and Jenni (Scott); numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and a loving girlfriend, Clare Bollnow, along with their beloved puppy, Ethel.
Known affectionately as “Harry Hood” by his friends and close ones, Eric was a dedicated worker at Metro Chicago, known for his kindness and remembered as a gentle soul. Originally from Sleepy Hollow, Illinois, he later made Chicago, Illinois his home until his untimely passing.

Memorial services will be held to celebrate Eric’s life, allowing those who loved him to come together and cherish the wonderful memories he created. Visitation for Eric will celebrate at Laird Funeral Home, 120 S. Third St., West Dundee (Corner of Third and Oregon) on Thursday, September 21, from 4:00-8:00 p.m., followed by a mass at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 111 S. Hubbard St., Algonquin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22nd.
