The appointment of Emma Simpson as the new Director was warmly welcomed by UHY Haines Norton.
Emma has been working in the accounting field for 25 years, almost 16 of which are Certified Public Accountants. When she first started her career, she decided that an accounting career was the best fit for her. She explains that accounting for her involves gathering all the components and assembling them to create something meaningful. Her father, Richard Benjamin, was a famous accountant who managed RL Benjamin in the North Shore. This profession also runs in the family.
After five years working abroad in London and Glasgow, Emma joined her father’s business in 2002. Emma continues her father Richard’s legacy after his death in 2016 by managing and expanded the company with the help of John Ballard, a former UHY Director and close friend of her father. Emma adds: “John stepped in and encouraged me to get my public license and continue running the company when my father died suddenly.
Emma admits it is difficult to let go of RL Benjamin but she believes the timing couldn’t be more ideal. “The amount and complexity of compliance required for businesses – especially SMEs – has increased tremendously over the past few years,” she said.
“My clients would greatly benefit from having the support of a reputable and successful company like UHY Haines Norton.” Emma is delighted to join the company as the newest Director and Board member due to her long association with UHY and similar career ideals. She claims that joining UHY is a great opportunity for both her and her clients.
“Working as part of a larger team is exciting and difficult, but I’m ready for that.” To express her point of view and use her experience to their specific circumstances, Emma is keen to develop relationships with UHY clients. She always wants to go above and beyond. In addition, she anticipates maintaining the deep working connections she has with RL Benjamin’s clients, many of them.
Sungesh Singh, the managing director, is delighted that Emma has joined the team. He claims that Emma is quite adept at troubleshooting and helping customers achieve the best results. She exhibits strong loyalty and dependability, and we are confident that she will be a great addition to the UHY team. The future is in good hands.
Emma is very pleased with her ability to communicate clearly and enjoys putting her clients at ease. “For many people, taxes and IRDs can be the scariest things,” she explains.
