Edward Roski Jr. was born in Oklahoma, United States, in 1938, and his birth year and month are unclear. His parents are Polish migrants, and he did not complete high school in Poland. During World War II, his father, Edward Roski Sr., served in the United States Navy. So he set a goal of joining the military like his father.
He graduated from Loyola High School in Los Angeles and went on to the University of Southern California, where he majored in real estate and finance. After graduating from the University of Southern California, he joined the United States Marine Corps and was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Marines. During World War II, he was sent to South Vietnam from Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay. He received a bronze star medal as well as two purple hearts. During Operation Starlite, he was injured while fighting in Chu Lai.
