Tulamba, Pakistan – Maulana Asim Jameel, son of prominent religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel, met a tragic end on Sunday under mysterious circumstances. The incident, which has shocked the community, has yet to raise many questions.
According to law enforcement sources, Maulana Asim Jameel was seriously injured by a fatal gunshot wound. His life hung in the balance as he was rushed to the Talamba Rural Health Center in critical condition, but regrettably, he succumbed to his injuries.
The cause of this tragedy remains uncertain as the police have not confirmed whether Asim Jameel’s death was a result of suicide. An official statement emphasized the importance of relying on concrete evidence and forensic reports to determine the precise circumstances surrounding his passing.
It is worth noting that a nephew of Tariq Jameel has alleged that Asim Jameel took his own life, but official investigations are ongoing to ascertain the veracity of this claim.
“Asim Jamil shot himself in the chest and later pronounced dead at the Tulamba Hospital,” Mian Channu DSP Mohammad Saleem said.
In response to the incident, the Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, has taken a keen interest in the case, directing the District Police Officer (DPO) to gather forensic evidence to shed light on the tragic demise of Asim Jameel.
Forensic experts from the Crime Scene Unit and Forensic Lab have been dispatched to the scene, indicating that the case is under close scrutiny, and appropriate actions will be taken in accordance with the law.
Maulana Tariq Jameel himself confirmed the heartbreaking news of his son’s passing on a social media platform, saying, “My son, Asim Jameel, passed away today in Tulamba. This accidental death has cast a pall of sorrow over us. We request you all to remember us in your prayers during this mournful time. May Allah grant my son a high place in Jannat.”

The tragic incident has garnered condolences and support from various quarters. Shehbaz Sharif, President of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), expressed his heartfelt condolences, saying, “We all share your grief over this accident.”
The ex-Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, reiterated his condolences, remarking, “I express my deepest condolences to Maulana Tariq Jameel and his family on the death of their son, Asim Jameel. Indeed, this is an unbearable grief. Our prayers and sympathies are with you. May Allah grant the deceased a high place in His mercy and give patience to the family. Amen.”

Preliminary reports indicate that Asim Jameel’s lifeless body was swiftly transported to Tulamba Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident.
As the investigation unfolds, Khanewal DPO and other senior police officers remain at the crime scene, overseeing the collection of crucial evidence.
