David Jeremiah was born on February 13, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio. He is 83 years old as of 2024. When he was eleven years old, his family relocated to Dayton, Ohio, where his father became the pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church. In 1953, his father was appointed president of Cedarville College (now Cedarville University), and the family relocated to Cedarville, Ohio.
Jeremiah graduated from Cedarville undergraduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1963, the same year he married his undergraduate love, Donna Thompson. He went on to get a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1967 and further graduate studies at Grace Seminary in 1972. In 1981, Cedarville awarded him an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree.

Career
Ruby and James T. Jeremiah gave birth to Jeremiah established Blackhawk Baptist Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1969, and Blackhawk Christian School in 1973. He also created and debuted The Bible Hour that year, gaining expertise in utilizing televised mass media to proclaim the Gospel. During his 12-year tenure as head pastor at Blackhawk, the church increased from seven families to 1,300 people.
In 1981, the Jeremiah family, which had grown to include four children, relocated to Southern California, where David Jeremiah took over as senior pastor of Scott Memorial Baptist Church (now Shadow Mountain Community Church) from Tim LaHaye. Jeremiah was diagnosed with lymphoma in 1994 and again in 1998. In 1999, a nodule in his neck was surgically removed, and he had stem cell transplant treatment. His book, When Your World Falls Apart, chronicles his experiences during that time period.
