Dave Filonis Biography
Dave Filoni grew up in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, suburb of Pittsburgh. In 1992, he graduated from Mt. Lebanon and in 1996, he graduated from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. According to composer Kevin Kiner (who wrote much of the music for The Clone Wars and Rebels), Filoni’s father was a fan of classical music and opera; he therefore inherited an appreciation for classical music and helped with the collaboration, Kiner crediting Filoni for suggesting the Grand Admiral Thrawn theme organ from the Rebels. Filoni added that his grandfather and uncle were also pilots, who later specialized in aircraft restoration. He realized this had a big influence on the Star Wars Resistance idea.
