Dauda Lawal Dare was born on September 2, 1965 in Zamfara State. He completed his Primary and Secondary School where he grew up with his parents and later attended Ahmadu Bello University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He also holds a Master’s degree in Political Science/International Relations from the same university. He also went to Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, where he obtained his Ph. in business administration.
After Dauda Lawal Dare completed his PhD, he has continued to develop himself by taking courses at prestigious universities, including Harvard Business School, Oxford University Business School, London School of Economics and Lagos Business School among others.

Dauda Lawal Dare served as the political education officer of the Nigerian Mass Mobilization Authority for Economic and Social Dependence. In 1989, he became an assistant general manager when he joined Westex Nigeria Limited.
Dauda Lawal was appointed as an assistant consular (immigration) officer in 1994 and later became head of the front desk at the Embassy of Nigeria, Washington, DC, USA.
In 2003 he joined First Bank of Nigeria Plc as director of relations and several times as senior manager at the Abuja Regional office. In 2011, he was promoted to the position of executive vice president, public sector, North of First Bank of Nigeria Plc, after he had held several positions.
In 2012, he became managing director, public sector, North of First Bank of Nigeria Plc.
Dauda Lawal then entered politics and ran for the seat of governor of zamfara state in the APC primaries held in 2018 but he lost to Idris Shehu Mukhtar.
In the Zamfara gubernatorial election of 2023, he ran for and won the governorship of zamfara state under the People’s Democratic Party.
