Levi sang the song Ce rêve bleu for Disney’s animated series Aladdin two years later, in 1993. This song, a duet with Karine Costa, catapulted him to fame.
In 2000, he performed in Pascal Obispo and Élie Chouraqui’s musical comedy The Ten Commandments. He portrayed Mose in it and received plaudits for the musical’s signature tune, The Desire to Love. According to Universal Music France, the musical was a smash for many weeks at the Palais des Sports, and the record sold 1.3 million copies.
While pursuing his solo career after his stay with The Ten Commandments, Levi wrote songs that were a blend of soul music, jazz, and French variety. Before his death, he had published six solo albums. In 2019, he revealed that he had colon cancer.
