Listowel, County Kerry – Daniel Houlihan, a 20-year-old young man, tragically lost his life in an accident that occurred on Saturday, September 24, 2023. The incident took place in Kerry when a taxi struck him as a pedestrian on the R553 in Ballydonohoe, Lisselton near Ballybunion.
Details of the accident indicate that Daniel was out during the early hours after spending time at the Listowel Racing Festival. Unfortunately, the collision with the taxi resulted in his passing just after 2 a.m. at the scene. His body was then transported to University Hospital Kerry’s mortuary.

He is survived by his parents Aidan and Theresa, sisters Emma and Rebecca, grandparents Dan and Mary Keane, uncles Donie, Johnny, Donal, and Eddie, aunts Catriona, Breda, and Marion, as well as several extended family members, neighbors, and a wide circle of friends.
Details for the funeral are as follows:
- Reposing at his parent’s residence, Clounprohus, Moyvane (V31 VO70), on Friday, September 29th, from 3.30 p.m to 7.30 p.m.
- Funeral arriving at St. Teresa’s Church, Ballydonoghue, on Saturday morning at 10.45 a.m, with the Requiem Mass for Daniel being celebrated at 11.00 a.m, followed by burial afterwards in Gale Cemetery.
The local community and well-wishers from afar have extended their deepest condolences to Daniel’s family during this difficult time, offering prayers and thoughts for the young man who left a lasting impact on those around him.
