Dan Bourchier’s career
In 2012, Bourchier began working for Sky News as a Darwin correspondent before being promoted to the position of head of the Northern Territory office. In Darwin, he previously established Australia’s first combined news office for Sky News and National Indigenous Television. In late 2015, Bourchier was hired to replace outgoing reporter David Lipson as a political correspondent based in Canberra, holding the position of Indigenous Affairs Correspondent. Bourchier previously worked for NT News and NITV. On 18 November 2016, Bourchier announced that he would be leaving Sky News and joining ABC as a morning radio host and host of the Canberra television newscast.
In the 2013 NT Media Awards, Bourchier’s reporting on the NT leadership crisis won the title of “spoiler of the year”. In 2016, Bourchier worked with the Sky News team that won the Walkley Award for best coverage of an important news event.
