Career
Dan began his music career in Victoria, Canada, where he was a member of various bands, including Atlas Strategy. Since then, he’s worked on projects with Britt Daniel, the frontman of Spoon, including Handsome Fus and Divine Fits. Dan and singer John Pollard co-founded the popular British Columbia band Atlas Strategy in 2000, and their first album Rapture, Ye Minions was later published.
Boeckner and then-fiancee Alexei Perry founded Handsome Furs in 2005. Plague Park released their first album in 2007 after signing with Sub Pop Records. Handsome Furs’ most recent album, Sound Kapital, was released in 2011. He sang Return to the Sea on Island’s first album. Dan and Britt Daniel formed Divine Fits in 2011 when Daniel took a hiatus from the band Spoon. During Canadian Music Week in Toronto in May 2014, he formed the people who ran his new band. Blue Wave, their first album, is set for release on April 1, 2016. Since 2021, Boeckner and Riley Quinn have co-hosted the podcast The Bottlemen.
