Damian Lewis Is Set To Return To “Billions” Season 7 As Bobby Axelrod

Damian Lewis, who left Showtime’s horror thriller Billions last year, is expected to return. The Emmy-winning artist will reprise his role as Bobby “Ax” Axelrod in the show’s seventh season, which will air later this year. Lewis will appear in the upcoming season, currently in production in New York, alongside Paul Giamatti, Corey Stoll, and Maggie Siff. Photographers spread the news about the actor’s return before the network officially verified.

Damian Lewis will return as the character Billions.

The epilogue of season 5, titled No Way Home, sees Lewis’ Axelrod on the run from law enforcement once again. In the end, he disappeared in a cloak and dagger with his fortune and fled to Switzerland to avoid punishment in New York. The epilogue signals Lewis’ departure from the show, but it also leaves open the possibility of him returning to the series at some point in the future. His passing in 2021 comes shortly after his wife, actress Helen McCrory, died that same year.

Speaking of his departure, the performer said that his five-season tenure as Ax was:

“This is the time I spent the most time playing a character. It’s hard to keep digging, artistically… There’s a chance I’ll be able to come back. But for now, Ax has been defeated.”

Billions is currently in production in New York, and Lewis’ return was revealed last November when he was observed filming with his co-stars outside the Tower of London.
