The five-member K-pop boy group D1CE officially disbanded on January 20, 2023 after being active for most of their careers. The trio, formed by D1CE Entertainment, debuted on August 19, 2019, with their EP, Wake Up: Roll the World. The official D1CE Twitter account announced the group’s disbandment, tweeting:
“D1CE Exclusive Contract Expiration Information: Please see the announcement at the fan cafe for more information.”
This revelation took their fans by surprise, who weren’t expecting them. Since all of the members, except for the youngest Jin-young, are still performing their necessary military service, the disbandment took many fans by surprise. D1CE is famous for its extensive record list. DON1Ys (D1CE fans) were worried about the real cause of their disbandment, despite their impressive growth. One Twitter user wrote on the platform:
“NOT S1CE, PLEASE, NO”
Fans are worried about the sudden disbandment of K-pop boy group D1CE.
Although the K-pop boy band has been around for more than 4 years, most fans have known the boys from their participation in the survival reality TV series Produce 101, Boys24, and MIXNINE. However, when the sudden news of their disbandment reached the ears of their followers, they expressed concern about the situation. At the same time, fans expressed concern that they could not bid farewell to the members properly because most of them are currently in the military.
However, other fans blamed their agency, D1CE Entertainment. Despite the boy band’s hard work and efforts in creating a niche for themselves in the K-pop market, the DON1Ys think their business hasn’t earned them credibility. From promotions to outside schedules, fans believe the K-pop trio deserves more from their agency, as the agency handles most of their representation. At that point, fans naturally expect that the members will reappear under a different banner, as most fans like and respect their music.
The most recent official comeback of the 5-member K-pop boy group is DRAW YOU: REMEMBER ME in 2020, which is highly appreciated by fans. However, aside from a few songs like Good Day and OSTs like Mad For Each Other, the group hasn’t been very busy after their comeback. Around 2020-21, members began gradually signing up for their mandatory military service, reducing their engagement with fans and their distribution of work more.
Fans also claim that this increased due to their events not being properly scheduled. As they were a newly formed band, there was a brief professional hiatus as the group found its place in the music business. Furthermore, comeback stages are held far apart, which can be dangerous for a group of rookies. As many individuals expressed their anxiety about the sudden disbandment of a promising boy group, Twitter was flooded with fan feedback, thoughts, and fears, making it a topic of discussion. hot. While the news is mostly sad, supporters wish the members success in their future missions and promise to support them no matter which path they choose.
