In a devastating incident that has left the community in shock, 27-year-old Harrison Outram, a student from the engineering faculty of Curtin University’s main campus in Bentley, Perth, was discovered lifeless in a room on Wednesday evening. According to authorities, Outram’s passing was the result of a self-inflicted fatal injury, marking a profound tragedy for the university community.
Outram’s life came to a tragic end on campus, and the news of his passing has deeply saddened both students and faculty. In an email sent to science and engineering students, Professor Mark Ogden, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the faculty, expressed his deep sorrow over Outram’s passing. He described the incident as a “tragedy” and extended his condolences to Outram’s family, friends, peers, and colleagues during this incredibly distressing time. Professor Ogden also encouraged students in need of support to reach out to the Student Wellbeing Advisory Service on campus, emphasizing that affected students could request assessment flexibility.
