In the wake of a devastating accident, the community of Hinton, Alberta, is grappling with the heartbreaking loss of 14-year-old Cooper Petkau, a vibrant soul whose infectious zest for life left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Cooper’s life was tragically cut short on Friday, October 6th, 2023, due to injuries sustained in the accident, leaving his family, friends, and the entire community in deep sorrow.
Cooper was more than just a young boy; he was a dazzling star, larger than life, with a smile that could light up any room and eyes that sparkled with mischief. His boundless enthusiasm and infectious chuckle were his trademarks, creating an atmosphere of joy and laughter wherever he went. Cooper’s pursuit of his goals was marked by unwavering determination, and his love for his family and friends knew no bounds.
A beacon of positivity and warmth, Cooper had a remarkable ability to brighten the lives of those around him. In honor of Cooper’s memory, a memorial service will be held at the Hinton Center in Hinton, Alberta, on October 20th at one o’clock in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Stollery Children’s Hospital, a cause close to Cooper’s heart.
