Clearwater plane crash victims identified: Pilot and two others dead

Clearwater, Florida – The identities of the three individuals tragically killed in the small plane crash that occurred in Clearwater’s Bayside Estates have been revealed by the Clearwater Police Department.

The victims include the pilot, identified as Jemin Patel, a 54-year-old resident of Melbourne Beach, Florida. Patel had taken off in a single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza V35 from Vero Beach earlier that day and was the sole occupant of the aircraft.

The two individuals on the ground were identified as Clearwater resident Martha Parry, 86, who resided in the mobile home park, and Mary Ellen Pender, 54, a visitor to the mobile home. At the time of the crash, up to nine people had been inside the home, but all except Parry and Pender had left.

The crash led to a fire that caused damage to several nearby homes in Bayside Estates. The Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the causes of death for the victims.

Prior to the crash, Patel had reported “some trouble” to air traffic controllers at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport and had indicated “engine failure,” according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is set to remove the wreckage on Saturday as part of the ongoing investigation into the incident, jointly conducted by the NTSB and the FAA.

“Our thoughts are with the three victims and their families; this tragedy could have been even worse,” expressed Police Chief Eric Gandy. The investigation aims to uncover the circumstances leading to the crash and any contributing factors surrounding the reported engine failure.
