An obvious candidate could be dropped from the list as USC extensively searches for their next athletic director. According to Austin American-Statesman’s Kirk Bohls, Chris Del Conte is not leaving Texas for the Trojans.
Del Conte, who worked at TCU, has received a lot of criticism from USC before. Del Conte believes that staying in Texas was an easy decision because the higher powers there are on his side.
Del Conte told Bohls, “I’m not interested in any other position.” “What matters is who you work for. I work for a wonderful president named Jay Hartzell, who is raising the bar for Texas. I am very grateful to be here.
Since taking over in 2017, Del Conte has elevated the sport of Texas. The Directors Cup, awarded to the school with the highest all-round athletic performance of the year, has been won by the Longhorns twice in a row. Stanford previously won the award every year from 1994-1995.
