Carol Chakra and Lian Awadi dies in southeast Wichita in KS car accident: Obituary

Law enforcement in Wichita, Kansas is currently investigating a devastating early morning collision that took the lives of 19-year-olds Carol Chakra and Lian Awadi. The incident occurred in the 6200 block of East Pawnee at around 2:30 A.M. on Wednesday.

Deputies responded to the collision before 2:30 a.m., discovering two vehicles in the ditch with three individuals ejected from a silver 2013 Lexus sedan. According to Lt. Nathan Gibbs of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, both vehicles were traveling west on Pawnee from Woodlawn when the Lexus veered off the road, collided with a utility pole, and crashed. The three occupants of the car were all thrown from the vehicle.

Carol Chakra, seated in the front passenger seat, tragically lost her life at the scene, while Lian Awadi, the rear passenger, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The collision, involving two westbound cars on Pawnee, led to one of them sliding into a pole and rolling multiple times. Another individual from this vehicle died at the scene, while the third person sustained non-serious injuries. The 20-year-old driver was hospitalized but has since been released.

The second vehicle on the scene did not collide with the Lexus, but its occupants were acquainted with those involved in the tragic incident, as stated by Lt. Nathan Gibbs. The collision, which occurred at the intersection of Pawnee and Woodlawn, is currently under investigation by law enforcement agencies.
