Hocking County, Ohio – The sudden passing of Caitlyn Laughlin on September 20, 2023, in a tragic car accident has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her. Caitlyn, a resident of Columbus, Ohio, was a beautiful soul who always radiated warmth and kindness. Her love for people was evident throughout her entire life, and she held a special place in her heart for everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Caitlyn was a loving mother to her pride and joy, Liam Patterson. Born on February 16, 1988, in Kansas City, Missouri, Caitlyn was the daughter of Delmar Ray “Butch” Laughlin, Jr. and Lori McCammon. Alongside her beloved son, Caitlyn is survived by her mother Lori McCammon, sisters Rebecca Laughlin and Stefanie (Brad) Lucas, and the father of her son, Josh Patterson. She was preceded in death by her father, Delmar, and her grandparents Edith, Delmar, and Glenn.
A graduate of Liberal High School, Caitlyn pursued her passion for animals by obtaining her associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology. Working as a vet tech for many years, Caitlyn found fulfillment in caring for animals. Above all, she cherished her role as a mother to Liam, celebrating his accomplishments and supporting him in his passions, particularly his love for baseball.
Caitlyn’s caring heart and friendly demeanor made an everlasting impact on everyone she met. Her dream was to become a drug and alcohol counselor, aspiring to help those in need and make a positive difference in their lives. She was always ready to lend a helping hand and brought comfort and compassion to those around her.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Schoedinger Grove City, with Caitlyn’s memorial service following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Caitlyn’s mother, Lori McCammon, to set up a fund for Liam’s future.
Caitlyn Laughlin’s memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, kind heart, and unwavering love for her family and friends. May she rest in peace.
