Branimir Dopua, a former coworker at HTV who is now retired and regarded as an authority on international policy, is first and foremost described as a kind person by respected journalist Mirjana Raki.
Everyone is familiar with the Dnevnik post by Branimir Dopua, which read, “Dear viewers, I wish you a pleasant evening and a special greeting to the Croatian veterans, wherever they are.” I hope that they will recognize him in HTV’s main news program since he certainly earned it. He was a personality who made his mark on the screen and a well-known face of Dnevnik. He was a really terrific editor and a nice colleague, so I’m sorry to hear of his passing. He was the host and editor of Dnevnik, although he never made a point of drawing attention to himself. I must say that when I heard this news, I was pretty shocked, Raki remarked.
Dopua worked with Marija Nemi, the HRT program director, on the Programme for Freedom.
It surprised some when he delivered the legendary salute to the defenders on his alone, but he actually nailed the occasion brilliantly. He was an extremely lovely and kind man who never did anything complicated. He was incredibly kind, humble, and heartfelt, and I will remember him for those qualities, said Nemi.
I was shocked to learn that Branimir Dopua was leaving. He was a part of the Information Programme when I first started working at HTV in the early 1990s, and I still remember him from those times. He was a superb coworker who always had compassion for us younger people. He always presided over a program like Dnevnik with grace, focus, and a sense of serenity. We all took lessons from him since Dnevnik constantly creates mayhem, but he served as the point of control and the editor, bringing order and positivity each time. He was undoubtedly among the most significant figures in Dnevnik’s history. I offer my sympathies to Branimir Dopue’s family, said journalist and producer Dubravko Merli.
Branimir Dopua was a decent man and a superb professional, according to HRT editor and writer Renato Kuni.
Working with him was a true pleasure, I might add. He knew exactly what he was doing and was calm, so you could learn a lot from him. Yes, he was a true master of the Dnevnik, especially in the days before portals. There were never any conflicts or tensions during the same period. He was a fantastic coworker, Kuni said.
News -:
The core Dnevnik and the program “Yesterday, Today, Sutra” were edited by this renowned host, who began his long career at Television Zagreb in 1974. According to HRT, he served as the Information Program’s acting editor as well as assistant editor.
Additionally, he served as the first editor of the Croats living outside of their country’s borders’ satellite program “Slika Hrvatske” on HRT.
Dopua is the recipient of the 1994 Ivan ibl Lifetime Achievement Award from HRT. He was well known for signing off Dnevnik during the Homeland War with: “Dear viewers, I wish you a pleasant evening, and a special greeting to the Croatian veterans, wherever they are.”
