Brandon Crawford Adams from Portland and two other killed in car crash in Maine Turnpike

A devastating accident on the Maine Turnpike Wednesday evening resulted in a fatal collision involving multiple vehicles, leading to the tragic deaths of three individuals, including Brandon Crawford Adams of Portland.

The incident, as detailed by Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, began when authorities received several reports of a gray 2018 Honda Civic traveling south in the northbound lanes of the Maine Turnpike. The vehicle was reportedly speeding in the wrong direction.

Near South Portland, the Honda Civic collided head-on with a black 2013 Toyota Rav4 around mile marker 45 in the northbound lanes. The impact was severe, causing both vehicles to erupt in flames, leading to a tragic outcome for all occupants involved.

The casualties included not only the driver and passenger of the wrong-way vehicle but also the driver of the Rav4. First responders arrived at the scene to find that all three individuals had already passed away.

Further details revealed that prior to the collision with the Rav4, the Honda Civic had also collided with a silver 2020 Ford F-150 pickup truck around mile marker 48 in the northbound direction. Fortunately, the truck driver emerged unharmed with minimal damage to the vehicle.

The Maine State Police and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident, aiming to ascertain the identities of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the tragic collision. As a result of the crash investigation, a section of the Maine Turnpike north of Exit 45 remained closed for approximately two hours.
