Brad, Brian and Rich Cronin were the original members of LFO (Lyte Funkie Ones). The group was formed in New Bedford, Massachusetts, in 1995. The group first became famous for Yvonne Elliman’s If I Can’t Have You, and in 1997 they published the cover of Step By Step.
Devin Lima joined the other boys when Brian left LFO in 1999 to focus on his solo music career. The only LFO band member left is Brad. Rich died in 2010 of leukemia, while Devin lost his battle with cancer in 2018.
Brad, who is still actively involved in the music industry, has set out to preserve the legacy of the beloved boy band as a way to pay tribute to Devin and Rich. Brad went on a short tribute to old friends in his band last year, performing in Pittsburgh, Washington, Long Island and New York.
At the time, Brad said on Instagram, “We will be narrating the story of LFO from 1974, the year Rich was born, to the present day. We’ll be playing era-specific music, inspirational music, and all your #LFO favorites. “We will share personal anecdotes about LFO’s journey in a lovely and private atmosphere,” he continued. The LFO site still has tickets and VIPs.
In 2019 and 2020, Brad embarked on such short tours in memory of LFO and his band mates. He paid tribute to Brian in an emotional message, writing: “Today I pay tribute to my old bandmate, Brizz. You’ll know what Brian means to LFO if you’ve watched the LFO Story webcast or heard the band and I perform live.
The first two chapters of LFO, which you come to know and (hopefully) love, would not exist without the work of his love and commitment in the early days of LFO. The band’s hit song Summer Girls was featured on their self-titled debut album, which contained 13 songs and was released in 1999. The Billboard Hot 100 top 10 included Summer Girls and Girls on TV.
One of the band’s most popular songs, Summer Girls has sold over 1.5 million copies in the US and has been nominated for a Billboard Music Award for Best Selling Single of the Year.
