Today I received some heart stopping news first thing in the morning. I got a call from a buddy notifying me that a good friend of mine Ben Clattenburg had his life taken from him earlier this week.Ben and I came up together in the marine industrial industry. I first met him while I was working at the shipyard. We worked on a section of the ship my first day there and pretty much every day after that. He made the days at work chill and always had a great attitude to be around. I feel like the days that were shitty at work were the ones we didn’t work together. LolI’ll never forget the time him and I had nothing to do at work and the supervisor said we could leave if we wanted to. It was close to break and we were both starving, iHop had just opened in Larry utek and neither of us had ever had it so we were both down to grab some pancakes. We got to the restaurant to see a big line since it was opening day and contemplated leaving but then said fuck it we’re already here, so we waited for a table and got some bomb breakfast and some smoothies to go with it.Ben and I were always picking up the tab for each other for lunch or whatever so he said he would grab this meal and boy did he regret that when the bill came for like 70 or 80 bucks. I’ll never forget his reaction when he saw the bill “WHAT!!! 80 bucks for pancakes?”I helped with the bill.I never ate there again and after today I probably never will. That’s our spot bro. I’ll miss the hell out of you but we’ll always have iHop.Peace brother.
