Kendall Park, NJ – Ben Fonseca, a revered figure in baseball coaching and player development, has passed away, leaving a profound impact on the community. The announcement of his demise was made through a heartfelt social media post by his close associates and players.
Ben’s battle with a severe case of systemic scleroderma, an autoimmune disease affecting both skin and internal organs, began in 2017. Despite his resilience, enduring a heart attack and a series of health complications, Ben’s determination allowed him to stage a miraculous comeback in 2018. However, the disease resurged, leading to prolonged hospital stays over the past year, ultimately leading to his passing.
Hailing from Rock Island, Illinois, and residing in Kendall Park, New Jersey, Ben’s impact extended far beyond geographical boundaries. His coaching journey spanned various prestigious positions, including roles with the Somerset Patriots, Milwaukee Brewers, and Zoned Sports Academy. A stalwart in player development, Ben’s expertise and leadership transcended softball and baseball communities across the Northeast Region.
