Renowned Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose is embroiled in legal turmoil as a former Penthouse magazine model, Sheila Kennedy, accuses him of a disturbing sexual assault incident dating back to 1989. The spotlight is on Rose as Kennedy, now 61, files a lawsuit in Manhattan’s State Supreme Court, seeking compensation for the enduring trauma she claims has haunted her for decades.
Kennedy alleges that the harrowing experience in a New York City hotel profoundly impacted her, causing anxiety, damaging her career, and plunging her into despair. The lawsuit, invoking the Adult Survivors Act, a New York statute temporarily active for such cases, enables adult victims to seek justice for incidents, even those occurring decades ago. The window of opportunity to file under this law closes this Thursday.
In response, Rose’s attorney, Alan S. Gutman, vehemently denied the allegations, asserting, “In simplest terms, this incident never happened.” He pointed out the timing of the lawsuit, filed just a day before the New York State filing deadline, and emphasized Rose’s lack of memory regarding the accuser. However, Rose acknowledges the possibility of a fan photo taken in passing.
Confident that legal proceedings will favor him, Rose maintains his innocence. According to the lawsuit, Kennedy, residing in Palm Springs, California, met Rose in a Manhattan nightclub in February 1989. Rose allegedly invited her to his hotel suite for a party, where she witnessed him engaging in sexual activities with another model. Subsequently, an enraged Rose reportedly assaulted Kennedy, dragging her by her hair across the floor and binding her hands with pantyhose, all without her consent.
As the legal battle unfolds, the iconic rocker faces a pivotal moment in his career, with the outcome uncertain and the echoes of past events reverberating into the present.
