Anthony Furey, a national commentator and broadcaster, is offering Toronto’s mayoral race a “new perspective”.
Furey, now vice president of True North Center and former Senior Commentary editor of the Toronto Sun, announced her candidacy for mayor of Toronto on June 26 on Tuesday.
In a video introducing her campaign, Furey said: “While we all love our city, one thing more and more people convey is that Toronto feels like it’s in decline. And as a dad determined to raise his 3 kids here, I want to act.
Many crimes in the city are the result of drug addiction, and the solution, he says, is “treatment, treatment, treatment.”
Furey observes: “Our brothers and sisters on the street need our help. And we make our neighborhoods safer by supporting them.
Meanwhile, he suggests that Toronto City Hall is spending money on “pet projects” that don’t involve the families they’re supposed to help.
If elected, Furey promises to begin a 90-day review of all supports and activities, and to end any activities not requested by the public.
