Ante began his football career at the age of 17, which corresponds to his jersey number. NK Radnik was his first amateur club. It was a Croatian football club headquartered in the town of Velika Gorica in the Croatian province of Zagreb. In 2011, he made his professional debut for the Croatian football team NK Inter Zapresic. He was at the club until 2013 when he signed a deal with Lokomotiva Zagreb.
He was with the team for a year before being moved to the German professional football club FC St. Pauli in 2014. It was his first club outside of his own country. After a year with FC St. Pauli, he was loaned out to Crotone in Italy. He signed a deal with the Italian club Sampdoria in 2016. He was loaned out to Crotone once again. In 2018, he was moved to Crotone and loaned to Mallorca, a Spanish club. Ante signed a three-year deal with Mallorca in 2019 and was loaned to Osasuna, his current club since 2021.
