Just a week before his sudden death, Andre Portasio sent a heartfelt letter to her husband Paul O’Grady, saying he was so proud of him. Andre appreciates Paul’s dedication, talent and commitment in his last blog entry. At the age of 67, Paul died on Tuesday night “suddenly but quietly”.
In a statement, Andre, a former professional ballerina, said: “He will miss his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who love intelligence. His humor and compassion. He definitely wants me to express my gratitude for all the love you’ve given him all these years.
Paul and Andre first met in 2006 and then they married privately in 2017, according to YorkshireLive. Recently, Paul toured the country with the musical Annie, in which he played Miss Hannigan.
Andre posted a heartfelt tribute to her husband on social media a week before his concert in Scotland. On March 21, he posted a poster for the show to Instagram with the caption: “I hope Miss Hannigan and the entire cast of Annie are having a great time in Scotland. You make me proud, @paulogrady, for your dedication, commitment and of course your talent.”
Paul has presented The Paul O’Grady Show, Blind Date, Blankety Blank and ITV’s multi-award winning series For The Love Of Dogs throughout his illustrious career. He hosted his own two-hour show, Paul O’Grady on the Wireless, on BBC Radio 2 from April 2009 to August 2022.
He began presenting Paul O’Grady’s Saturday Night Lineup in September 2021, and Paul was scheduled to make a surprise appearance on Boom Radio’s Easter Sunday radio show next month. His sudden passing has shaken the entertainment industry, and hundreds of A-list stars and fans have paid tribute to the beloved TV personality.
