Amy Dowden’s career
- Along with Ben Jones, Dowden won the title of 2017 British National Latin Dance Champion.
- She also became the first dancer from Wales to participate in the BBC’s “Strictly Come Dancing” competition.
- She made her debut in season 15 of the competition in 2017, finishing in 12th place alongside dance partner Brian Conley.
- She and Danny John-Jules finished ninth in season 16 with an average score of 28.3. Darcey Bussell marked the couple’s Jive as “Flip, Flop and Fly” in week 5, earning them the first 10 points of the competition. The duo were eliminated from the competition in Week 8 after losing to Graeme Swann and Oti Mabuse in dance. Their removal comes days after controversial bullying allegations, with tabloids saying John-Jules brought Dowden to tears.
