Amanda Williamson Obituary: Family support specialist at Massillon City Schools passes away

Massillon, Ohio – The Massillon City Schools community is deeply saddened by the loss of Amanda Williamson, a beloved Family Support Specialist, and devoted advocate for students and families. She passed away on October 14, 2023, leaving those who knew her heartbroken.

Amanda Williamson was an exceptional individual whose life was marked by a genuine commitment to serving her community. Born on September 18, 1971, in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of John O. and Marilynn (Doty) Williamson. She graduated from GlenOak High School and later attended Miami University in Ohio, where she earned a degree in English.

Amanda’s professional journey was characterized by a passion for helping families in need. She began her career as an Office Manager and Salesperson at K-Carpet Co., dedicating an impressive 19 years and a month to the role, from June 1995 to June 2014. Her unwavering dedication then led her to become a Family Support Specialist at the Stark County Educational Service Center in September 2015.

Her commitment and impact grew further when she transitioned to serve as a Family Support Specialist at Massillon City Schools. In this role, she made a notable difference in the lives of the students and families she served. Amanda went beyond her professional duties to actively engage in community initiatives, exemplified by her role as a proactive Committee Member at the Western Stark County Homeless Task Force. Her work reflected her dedication to addressing local social challenges and improving the lives of those around her.

For the past two decades, Amanda brought her boundless energy and time to Church of the Lakes, where she played a pivotal role in launching the Canal Fulton Campus, led youth groups, offered her services at the nursery care, and served as a youth counselor. Much of her “free” time was dedicated to organizing and participating in various retreats and outings through the ministry.

Amanda Williamson was known for her incredible heart, her love for nurturing children, and her unwavering commitment to helping others. In her spare time, she enjoyed hiking and was an avid reader of many genres.

Amanda is survived by her sister, Megan Evans (Scott) of Jacksonville, FL, along with their two children, Katie and Zach. She is also survived by her brother, Ben Williamson (Loren), and their two children, Charles and Amelia, of Fairfield, CT.

A funeral service to celebrate Amanda’s life will be held at Church of the Lakes United Methodist, located at 5944 Fulton Dr., on Saturday, October 21st, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Amanda to the Church of the Lakes general fund. Contributions can be made at this link or to the United Way, designated for either the AHEAD or CARE Team.

The legacy of Amanda Williamson will live on in the hearts of all those she touched, and her commitment to helping others will continue to inspire the Massillon community.
