For many years, Delhi has been plagued by pollution, water shortages and unexplained carelessness, and it has become one of the most discussed topics in recent years, with many opinions. The opinion is that it is too late for the Indian capital to recover. Shaunak Sen’s documentary was produced in partnership with HBO Documentary Films, Submarine Deluxe and Sideshow Release.
On January 22, 2022, the critically acclaimed film had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. It was awarded the Grand Jury Prize at the World Cinema Documentary Competition there. Nadeem Shehzad and Mohammad Saud, brothers who run a bird clinic in Wazirabad, Delhi, have cured more than 20,000 raptors over the past 20 years. Shaunak Sen explained his intention to shoot the brothers:
“I was intrigued by the theme of the interconnectedness of an ecosystem – an ecosystem of which humans are a part, not separate. How humans and animals share space and become one. It’s an important story.”
