Bellsouth is a popular email service operated and managed by AT&T since 2006. A well known American company, Bellsouth is known to have provided its services to more than 18 countries for over a decade now. Since Bellsouth became part of AT&T, you are allowed to log in to your Bellsouth email account through the AT&T login page.

Configure Bellsouth Email with Outlook

When it comes to configuring Bellsouth email with Outlook, you need to follow a certain sequence of steps and enter the correct bellsouth.net settings for Outlook. So let’s take a look at the setup process:

  1. Open the Outlook app on your laptop or PC and click the ‘File’ menu in the top left corner.

  1. Click ‘Add Account’

  1. A new ‘Add Account’ window will open where you have to select the ‘Manual setup or additional server types’ option and click ‘Next’.

Select 'Manual setup or additional server types' and click 'Next'

  1. Select the ‘POP or IMAP’ option and then click ‘Next’ to continue.

  1. Now enter the following information:

User information

  • Your name: your name
  • Email address: your bellsouth email address
  • Server Information
  • Account type: POP3
  • Incoming mail server: pop.mail.att.net
  • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.mail.att.net

Login information

  • Username: Your Username
  • Password: Your password

After filling in the information, click ‘More Settings’

Fill in all the User Information, Server Information and Credentials sections and click 'More Settings'

Note: Bellsouth.net email settings for most Outlook versions like 2016, 2019, 2013 are the same.

  1. In the ‘Outgoing Server’ tab, select ‘My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication’ and make sure the ‘Use the same settings as my incoming server’ option is selected; press OK’.

In the 'Outgoing' tab, select the options 'My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' and 'Use the same settings as my incoming server' and press 'OK.'

  1. In the ‘Advanced’ tab, enter ‘995’ for Incoming Mail Server (POP3) and for Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), enter ‘465’; also select ‘SSL’ for ‘Use the following encrypted connection type’ and press ‘Ok’.

In the 'Advanced' tab, enter the Server port number and select 'SSL' for 'Use the following encrypted connection type' and press 'OK.'

  1. It’s all about configuring bellsouth.net email for Outlook using the correct settings. Make sure to use the correct bellsouth.net server settings or you may have problems logging into your Bellsouth email account.
