The alt-pop troubadour is a work in progress, both as a musician and as a person.
Aime has been on a phenomenal creative road ever since Pete Doherty, the founding member of the Libertines, took him under his wing and helped him get through a difficult time in his life.
In 2017, he relocated to Berlin and immersed himself in the city’s liberal culture. This freedom gave him the creative freedom to create and release his own music and provided him with a stage on which to perform live.
What’s Up With The World?, a song that offers hope in turbulence and has taken on a deeper meaning in light of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic engulfing the world, is the result of his journey to date.
It represents a sharp shift for the better for Aime. After having PTSD symptoms as a result of childhood trauma brought on by bullying, he uses songwriting as a means of self-healing.
He experienced anorexia, which resulted in procedures and physical problems. He had to spend a lot of time in hospitals and clinics as a result, so he started journaling his poetry.
The clinic gave him permission to go to Pete’s show at the Bus Palladium in 2012, and it turned out to be a life-altering experience.
To make sure the leader of Babyshambles received it, Aime chose to toss his journal onto the stage in the middle of the performance.
Aime was invited on stage to play guitar when it unintentionally smacked Pete in the face and he started reading excerpts to the packed audience.
As Pete assisted Aime in developing the systematic songwriting technique he still employs today, a friendship between the two grew.
Aime traveled the globe for three years, with a highlight being her inclusion in Hedi Slimane’s 2013 Saint Laurent campaign. Doors to the fashion world opened.
Rowan, his daughter who was born 18 months ago, is now a father, and he compares being a sleep-deprived father to “partying every night without the party.”
Aime is prepared to embark on his next, life-affirming trip as he completes his experimental debut album.
