Netflix’s brand new sketch comedy show, A Whole Lifetime with Jamie Demetriou, is scheduled to be published on the platform and will be available to watch at 3:01 a.m. ET on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. The creators, however, have kept the specifics of the special kept secret, revealing only the absolute bare minimum.
According to Netflix, the plot of A Whole Lifetime with Jamie Demetriou is as follows:
“A view from the fetus. Adulthood is awkward. The years weren’t so great. In this singing comedy show, Jamie Demetriou takes you through the stages of existence.
Ellie White, Kiell Smith-Bynoe, Jon Pointer, Katy Wix and Sian Clifford co-star with Demetriou in A Whole Lifetime with Jamie Demetriou. Olly Cambridge produces musical comedy directed by Andrew Gaynord. Executives include Demetriou, Gaynord, Jonny Sweet and Simon Bird.

Despite the lack of information on the special, the producers revealed details about A Whole Lifetime with Jamie Demetriou in the press comments. According to Demetriou, the book in particular will “unleash the most important, most humiliating, most uplifting and ultimately futile periods of a life in stressful contemporary times”. BBC Studios comedy director Josh Cole described Demetriou as “an extraordinary writer and performer” in an interview with Variety, adding that the film special will transport audiences into a ” thrilling, tumultuous, beautifully observed journey through contemporary life.”
Jonny Sweet and Simon Bird, executive producers, praised Demetriou’s ability to “organize these diverse, dire, and often relatively dense personalities into a stunning picture of life as he was. He sees it.” While there’s no official preview for A Whole Lifetime with Jamie Demetriou, Netflix has shared a clip of a skit from the nearly hour-long show in which Demetriou portrays a character named Lexi. Lexi and his partner are seen dealing with a dilemma regarding the ex’s mother’s criticism of the current generation.
Jamie Demetriou’s Life and Career
Jamie Demetriou is an English performer, screenwriter and comedian. Demetriou was born in London to a local mother and Greek Cypriot father. He has an older sister, Natasia Demetriou, who is an actress and comedian and is his frequent partner. He went to North Finchley’s Compton School and the University of Bristol. Demetriou is also a member of the Chickenshed London Company of Southgate. His student vaudeville performance will continue to receive critical acclaim, with The Independent having reviewed his one-man multi-character show People Day.
Jamie Demetriou has appeared in many television shows, including Anna & Katy, The Midnight Beast, SunTrap, Fleabag, Stath Ides Flats, Four Weddings and a Funeral, The Great, The Afterparty, and Dead End: Haunted Park. To mention a few, he has appeared in The Darkest Universe, Paddington 2, Cruella, Pinnochio and Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Returns Again.
His partners have called him the “funny voice of his time” and he has steadily climbed the ranks in the entertainment business.
