In a significant development, Pakkret police have successfully apprehended a 19-year-old woman, identified as Petch, accused of operating an illicit Twitter account promoting underage prostitution services. The arrest took place at a hotel in Klong Khachen, Mueang district, Phichit, where Petch was allegedly delivering a 17-year-old girl to a client.
The arrest operation was initiated after authorities discovered a Twitter account enticing customers with underage girls for prostitution services. The account featured images of young girls for selection, and undercover officers contacted the account to arrange a transaction, agreeing on a price of 1,200 baht. The meeting was set at a resort room, where Petch arrived with the 17-year-old girl, identified as E (pseudonym). Upon receiving the payment, officers revealed their identity and arrested Petch.
Petch reportedly confessed to her role as the administrator of the Twitter account, claiming that she received a commission of 200 baht per transaction. However, despite her assertions, the police charged her with serious offenses, including human trafficking involving underage prostitution, organizing underage prostitution, and depriving a minor of their liberty for immoral purposes.
The case is now under the investigation of the Pak Kret Police Station’s inquiry officer. The arrest sheds light on the persistent issue of online platforms being used to facilitate illegal activities, and law enforcement agencies continue their efforts to combat such crimes.
In related news, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested a couple for running an illegal karaoke bar and engaging in human trafficking in the Isaan province of Loei. The operation resulted in the rescue of three young Lao women from prostitution. The CIB received information about the couple turning their restaurant into an illegal karaoke bar, offering sex services to customers, and exploiting over 10 women from Laos.
