5-Year-Old Girl Fatally Struck by SUV While Playing in Bradenton Parking Lot; Driver Arrested

In a devastating incident in Bradenton, Florida, a 5-year-old girl lost her life after being struck by an SUV on Friday afternoon, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol.

The tragic event occurred in the Sunset Village Parking Lot at 3715 14th Street West, situated east of US-41, where a Dodge Journey was traveling south. At around 5:20 p.m., the young girl was playing with her siblings in the parking lot, specifically in an area marked as a parking space and white painted safety zone.

The driver of the Dodge, identified as 45-year-old Adrian Castillo from Bradenton, made a left turn into the space where the child was playing, situated north of a laundromat, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The front right side of the SUV struck the child, causing critical injuries.

During the incident, the mother of the child was reportedly inside the laundromat. Following the collision, the 5-year-old was rushed to a local hospital by her mother, where unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries.

Adrian Castillo was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended involving death and was subsequently taken to the Manatee County Jail, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The authorities continue to investigate the details surrounding the tragic crash. The community mourns the loss of a young life in this heart-wrenching accident, emphasizing the importance of road safety, especially in areas where children are at play.
