What crime is 12 Hours of Despair based on?

12 Dangerous Hours follows an armed criminal who imprisons a family and forces his mother to drive him into a night of barbaric violence and gruesome plots. This story is similar to that of Gary Lee Quinlivan, who was eventually found guilty of second-degree murder, first-degree murder, and first-degree kidnapping.

His offense began in Washington state in 1963, when Joan Marlatt ended a relationship with then-boyfriend Quinlivan, who was unsatisfied. To contact his first companion, who lives with her mother, he enlists the help of an acquaintance, Fritz Donahue. According to accounts, Quinlivan accidentally killed his friend when he fell to the ground and his pistol exploded.

An autopsy revealed the following:

“[Donahue] died of a gunshot wound to the head, with a horizontal plane wound, the facts are consistent with the pistol being held at shoulder height and discharged directly at the deceased.”

Quinlivan then flees into the woods and outside of Patricia Jean Jaque’s home, where he forces her to drive him around. The plot of 12 Hours of Despair is affected by this. The following is an excerpt from the film’s synopsis:

“Val agrees to take Denny wherever he wants and becomes his reluctant partner as he rushes into the devastation to save them and her husband Mark (David Conrad) who will return home. home at any time. Despite the heartbreaking events, Val develops a connection with her captor and uses it to save the lives of witnesses, herself and even her captor (2023).

The Last Dance, Last Chance, and Other True Cases: Crime Reporting Vol. 8 also includes a disturbing account of the event. Gina Gershon told KTLA 5 about the situation:

“That touched me… I’m just tired of reading the news about another deadly murder. It makes me sad to think that these kids go to school and may never leave. It’s just terrible; America has failed as a civilization, and things are not getting any better.”

Lifetime will launch 12 Hours of Despair on February 25, 2023, at 8pm EDT. It will also be accessible for viewing the next day.
