1 man dead, 8 others injured in Indianapolis shooting after party on the northeast

Authorities in South Bend, Mishawaka, and St. Joseph County are currently investigating a disturbing shooting incident that took place during a house party in South Bend, Indiana, on Saturday night. Police, Fire, and EMS personnel swiftly responded to the scene following a Code 60 report, which indicated a violent altercation involving underage attendees with firearms.

“9 people shot with one dying at a large party in Indianapolis, their ages 16 to 22. It appears this was a Halloween party as many people were dressed in costumes. The shooting happened at 5100 E. 65th Street. Police are still trying to determine what this building/business is. IMPD tells us at least 100 people at the party when the gunfire rang out just after midnight. Police recovered multiple firearms and detained several people trying to determine their involvement.”

According to information gleaned from the South Bend, Mishawaka, and St. Joseph County Police scanner, the party was characterized by heavy underage drinking and smoking, amplifying the gravity of the situation. Upon arrival, first responders discovered four teenagers with gunshot injuries.
